Patient Testimonial | Chris “Crash” Clark

Crash: Camera aside, it’s amazing what they do here. I wish I needed more. My name is Crash Clark. I’ve been here in town 33 years. I do radio and TV. I came in here to get one single implant, and I hesitated for 20 years to get it. And I’m kicking myself for not coming in sooner.

I lived in Boston for a little while, and when I was up there, I did a radio promotion where they actually gave me a full set of veneers. The back teeth never had any work done, so I would occasionally have to go to a dentist and get something done. Well, this back tooth had to be extracted. And it was probably 20, 25 years ago I got it extracted, and just never did anything with it, for reasons, I don’t know. I just was hesitant, a little bit nervous about getting an implant or whatnot. So, I left this tooth open for years. The initial consultation was incredible. He said, “This will be the strongest tooth in your mouth.” And I’m like, “You kidding me. Everything that I’ve neglected on this side with an empty hole, and now it’s gonna be the strongest tooth in my mouth?” I said, “Let’s do this.”

Dr. Loetscher: So, he came in with a tooth that we removed, put an implant in. So, we put him all the way to sleep. He went to work the next day. He said it was the easiest process in the world. I think he didn’t take a pain pill. In fact, when somebody comes in for an implant, like his was a molar, we actually pre-operatively scan them, get a guide made. So, we put that implant dead accurately, and we have a half tooth that sits on at the sculpture, the gum tissue, it’s a real deal. For him, it was seamless. He loved the whole process.

Crash: The staff just greeted me with smiles, and took care of me. And even though I was still a little nervous and I was ready for sedation. And not even 20, 30 minutes, and I hear everybody, and I’m waking up, Dr. Loetscher is gone. And I’m like, “That was it?” This was Thursday afternoon that I got my procedure done. Now, obviously, I need my voice, I need my mouth to do what I do for a living. I was on the air at 11:00 alive Friday morning after my surgery, Thursday afternoon. Come in, get the initial consultation. And if you leave here and you don’t come back for the surgery, I owe you lunch. It’s such an amazing experience to be able to chew your food, enjoy your meals, and enjoy your smile too. And it’s life-changing. It really is.

Zirkonzahn Face Hunter at Atlanta Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Hey, my name is Larry. I’m a lab technician here at Atlanta Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. I want to talk to you about a really cool piece of technology we have here is the Face Hunter from Zirkonzahn.

What it does it takes 3D images of your face, and we can load that into the software. It allows us to capture your natural head position, your lip line, your smile line. And we can load all that in so that when I’m looking at it in the computer, it’s like I’m looking directly at your face.

So, the benefit to using the Face Hunter is that we can see your smile on. We can see where the teeth need to be positioned, and that’s not something that most people do. They just have a set of models on an articulator, and a lot of things are lost in translation. Some of the benefits of using this technology is that we can design a set of teeth that matches your face, matches your bone structure. We make sure that we get adequate support for the bridge so that it’s going to be strong and last forever.

That’s the goal here is to make sure that we get the implants in the right spot. The bridge is not going to break. Matches your face, your smile, everything is going to be customized for each patient.

So, if you’re shopping around, and you need to get some implants, we have the best surgeon in town, the best technology available, great staff, and we’ll be able to give you a long-lasting, predictable outcome.”

The Benefits Of Having An In-House Lab W/Dr. Loetscher

“Hello. I’m Dr. Andy Loetscher. I’m an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. There’s a lot of competition out there for forged implants. And I want to go through and tell you what separates us from the competition, and what we have to offer here.

What we’ve developed for you is a lab in the heart of our oral surgery practice. So, we’ve developed this awesome process. I think it’s one of the best in the US. Or because we have this lab here for you, you come in, and in one appointment, we have your surgery done, you get your implants placed. The lab designs your teeth. They’re milled with some great materials. My lab tech and I work hand in hand from start to finish and all right here.

Our lab utilizes a milling process to make the temporary teeth. For single teeth, it’s made in just minutes. For a whole arch set of teeth, it takes a few hours. But the beauty of this is custom designed to fit your mouth, and it’s also high strength.

A big benefit to having a lab here is we can collaborate to design your teeth or your bridge, so they not only look great, so they’re easy for you to clean. Because one of the goals is to make these teeth that we’re fabricating last your whole lifetime.

So, another big benefit we provide is, since I’m an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, we have a surgery facility. We, literally, when we do your surgery, can put you to sleep. Usually, we put you all the way to sleep.

If you’re elderly, we have an anesthesiologist for your sleep sitting still, which patients love because you truly don’t feel anything. And there’s a secondary benefit that, us as a surgeon, or we as a team can do really high-quality work.

You should definitely check us out. We have a process, I think, that is built and designed to benefit you for efficiency. And it’s a pretty great process.”

In response to the growing demands from patients in need of cutting-edge oral surgical care, we have established ourselves as one of the most technologically advanced and clinically accomplished practices in Alpharetta, GA and the greater metro Atlanta area. Through acquisition of state-of-the-art diagnostic and surgical technologies, we offer a more sterile and technically stronger environment in our outpatient surgery center than even most hospital settings can boast. In addition, we are one of only a few practices in the state to have an on-site laboratory staffed by trained technicians and equipped with some of dentistry’s most advanced digital and milling technology. Leveraging this technology, our oral surgeon and surgical team consistently achieve superior clinical outcomes through sound diagnostics, advanced guided surgery techniques, accelerated healing modalities, and high-quality fabrication of provisional restorations.

Patient Testimonial | James

James: So, it was disconcerting because I put a lot of time and effort into my appearance, and I meet with customers and I meet with colleagues and people that work for the company all the time. So, I want to make sure that I look professional.

But at the same time, it was one of those proud moments where, “Okay, I finally lost the tooth. I’m officially a hockey player.”

Hey, I’m James Rooney. I was a patient of Dr. Loetscher’s, had surgery about a year, year and a half ago. Worked on one of my teeth. So, I grew up on the south side of Chicago. I was a hockey player since I was 8 years old and still play today. So, I’ve been playing hockey for 40 years.

Dr. Loetscher: So, Jim came in. He’s a professional, owns a company, but he’s also a hockey player. And for him, his appearance is important. And his teeth, of course. He had unfortunately knocked out one of his premolars, came in with a broken tooth.

James: I was playing in a game, and I had the puck, went around the net, and lost an edge and flipped over with the puck and hit the boards. Massive concussion, tore the labrum in my right shoulder and lost my right eye tooth.

I had asked a few people around the area, “Who was the best,” and they told me, “Dr. Loetscher.” When I got into the operating room, doctor said, “Hey, look, just to be totally honest, I’m not sure if we’re going to be able to do everything that we wanted to do today because the recent x-ray that we took shows that there was a lot of bone degradation.

Thankfully, when I went in for surgery, he was actually able to do everything that we expected to do when I went under the first time, which was music to my ears because me walking around without a tooth in my job looks a little silly.

Dr. Loetscher: So, first, I saw him, we examined him, took out his broken tooth that he injured playing hockey, put an implant in and let the tooth integrate and put them right back out there. I was hoping it didn’t interfere with his busy life, and it didn’t.

James: You know, from the moment you walk in to talk to the individual at the front desk to the moment that you get home post op and someone calls. Dr. Loetscher called me himself and said, “Hey, James, how are you doing?”

And then, he called me again three days later, “How are things going?” Very impressive. It’s very rare that you see that level of professionalism. And this office does a fantastic job. There’s really nothing to be afraid of with the surgery itself. It was an amazing experience from beginning to end. I was really pleased with the outcome.

Meet Dr. Loetscher

“Hello. I’m Dr. Andy Loetscher. I’m an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. And I’ve been practicing here in Atlanta since the early 1990s. Actually, I grew up in the Midwest in a small town in Iowa…Dubuque, Iowa. And I went to a couple of Big Ten schools, University of Iowa, where I went to dental school.

I did my whole surgery training at Ohio State. So, in the 1990s, when I moved here to Georgia, I came down here excited to start a new life, got married. I’ve got two young daughters. When I’m not working, I play some tennis.

I’ve always been a craftsman and building furniture and projects like that. I love what I do. And so, kind of, limits what your hobbies do when you like your job so much. What’s really cool about my job is actually I still enjoy it after all these years.

There’s a great specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery. And I’ve actually narrowed it down to three areas of our practice: wisdom teeth, dental implants, and orthognathic surgery. We’ve got a really good group of people here.

It’s a really nice environment for the patient and for us to work in. We’re here in Brookhaven and in Alpharetta. If you’re looking for an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, we do a great job. We take good care of you. Give us a call.”

Dental Implants With An In-House Lab

We have an in-house lab to enhance your Dental Implant experience.

“Another unique thing about our office is that we have our own manufacturing center. We have 3D printers. We have milling machines from some of the best companies in the world. We can manufacture our teeth here instead of sending it out to a lab that allows us to make your teeth, you know, the same day or the next day, if possible, and that’s something that’s very unique that’s not very common in most practices.

A big benefit to having a lab on site is that we get to meet the patient, we get to, you know, work together with the doctor, collaborate, you know, that guarantees that we place the implants exactly where they need to be. We can design the set of teeth, you know, exactly where they need to be, and it’s, you know, the best possible outcome you can get.

So, if you are shopping around, and you need to get some implants, we have the best surgeon in town, the best technology available, great staff, and we’ll be able to give you, like, a long-lasting predictable outcome.”

Have A Phobia of Needles? No Worries! Dr. Loetscher and His Team of Nurses Have A Solution.

Dr. Loetscher solution for patients who have a needle phobia thumbnail

“So one of the things I want to talk about is going to sleep and not seeing a needle. So one of the things that I’ve noticed over the years of practicing in oral surgery, especially in children, one of the biggest fears is starting the IV, in that people don’t want to see a needle. And we take pride in ourselves, we’ve got a special solution for children and for young adults. And, well, actually this 66 year old woman the other day that didn’t want to see a needle this way. We actually can put you to sleep, you never see a needle and you wake up and it’s done. And the way we do this, is you come into the office that day, and of course, you have an empty stomach like you would for any anesthetic. And we sit you in the chair, kids we do this way, put on a mask that sits over your nose, and we add a little laughing gas to it. In about a minute ,we add a light anesthetic agent that puts you to sleep, it smells just like a light perfume.

And in about two to three minutes you’re asleep-sleep. Sound asleep. And then we actually start your IV and carry on your anesthetic so you never see a needle. And it’s a very beautiful thing we’ve got one of the few oral surgery offices that do this. And it’s part of the reason we can is the way I’m trained in anesthesia, we put most of our patients all the way to sleep with a true general anesthesia. So we’ve got the setup and the personnel to do it. And it’s really a nice choreographed type situation. Come in the chair, all my assistants have a specific job to do and we make it really nice and easy for the children.

There’s a lot of children that come to us, a lot of children’s dental offices send their patients to us because we do a lot of kids and it’s for wisdom teeth. A lot of children have an impacted tooth in the middle of their front teeth or canines that need to come down. So those are the majority of people we do this on we have a lot of special needs patients who come do this as well. So it’s a great thing and I will make it a really nice experience for people. And they come in and once they hear they don’t have to see a needle, they’re relaxed, they go to sleep, they wake up and they’re happy, we’re happy and we have a nice experience.”

Dr. Loetscher and his team have a solution for children or adults that are afraid of needles. With this method the patient will not see a needle during their procedure. The patient will receive some laughing gas for one minute to allow them to relax. Next, the patient will receive a inhalational anaesthetic that is FDA approved for the induction and maintenance of general anesthesia in adults and pediatric patients for inpatient and outpatient surgery. After 2-3 minutes the patient will be sound asleep and Dr. Loetscher’s team of registered nurse can begin the IV and prepare for surgery.
