Over the course of her training and professional experience, Dr. Price has earned a reputation for her attention to detail, clinical precision, and patient-centered communication – quantities that have made her a trusted resource among dentists, surgeons, and medical professionals alike.

Dr. Price completed her oral and maxillofacial pathology residency at Northwell Health – Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New York. During her residency, she gained extensive experience in histopathologic diagnosis, head and neck disease correlation, and teaching both dental and medical trainees. While in residency, she served as the president of the resident and fellowship association, where she planned events and advocated for more than two thousand hospital trainees.

Dr. Price earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree, graduating Summa Cum Laude, from University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry in 2017. Graduating at the top of her class allowed her to be inducted into the national dental honor society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU). Upon graduation she completed a one-year General Practice Residency (GPR) at Oregon Health and Sciences University (OHSU), which is where her love of surgery and pathology found its roots. Before making the ultimate decision to specialize, Dr. Price worked as a general dentist in Kansas City (go Chiefs) for four years. This clinical experience makes her especially keen to recognize the importance of referrals and communication between dental providers.

Providing continuing education to dental providers and educating the community is extremely important to Dr. Price. She has volunteered at several free oral cancer screening events and is looking forward to giving back to the Atlanta community in this regard.

Beyond the microscope and dental chair, Dr. Price is a Midwesterner at heart. Her gooey buttercake cookies have won the tastebuds of many, and she is often seen toting around a plate full of baked goods. Being a car ride, rather than TSA line, away from family is the motivating factor in her relocation to Atlanta. She also enjoys exploring the nearby beltline, skiing, traveling, and peloton workouts (if you listen closely maybe you’ll hear her OralPathPrice shoutout!).

What is Oral Pathology?

Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology (OMFP), often referred to as just “oral pathology,” is a dental specialty recognized by the American Dental Association that focuses on diagnosing and understanding diseases of the mouth, jaws, salivary glands, and related structures. Oral Pathologists are specially trained to evaluate both the clinical appearance and the microscopic features of oral conditions, providing precise and reliable diagnoses. Using a combination of patient examination, biopsy services, and laboratory analysis, these specialists identify a wide range of issues — including infections, autoimmune disorders, precancerous changes, and oral cancers. Their unique expertise bridges the worlds of dentistry and medicine, ensuring patients receive the most accurate diagnosis and best path forward for treatment.

Dr. Price is dedicated to helping patients and their dentists find answers to oral health concerns. If you notice a sore, lump, ulcer, or unusual spot in your mouth that doesn’t heal, it’s important to have it evaluated. Her role is to determine what the condition is – and just as importantly, what it is not. After examining or analyzing your biopsy, she will provide a detailed diagnosis and guidance for next steps, which may include treatment with your dentist, specialist, or physician.

In simpler terms, think of an oral pathologist as the “detective” of oral health. While your dentist helps keep your teeth and gums healthy, Dr. Price focuses on uncovering the cause behind any unusual changes or symptoms in your mouth. Whether the problem is something minor or more complex, her goal is to give you clear answers and peace of mind through expert diagnosis and collaboration with your healthcare team.
