Dr. Loetscher has been practicing in the metro Atlanta area for over 30 years. In those years, he has developed a reputation as one of the top Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons in the southeast. He specializes in 3 areas of expertise: dental implant surgery, wisdom teeth removal, and orthognathic surgery.

Dr. Loetscher’s reputation for surgical skill and quality of care has allowed our practice to become one of the most reputable oral surgery practices in the southeast. Our patients have grown to understand the value and wonderful experience we provide. This is a result of our team’s hard work, dedication to advancing our education, and always seeking improvement.

Dr. Loetscher attended the prestigious Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery training program at the Ohio State University. While there he also obtained a Master’s degree in Bone Grafting.

The Ohio State program has excelled for years in its training in the areas of Dental Implantology, Orthognathic Surgery, and Anesthesia. Dr. Loetscher lectures locally and nationally on topics of Dental Implants and Orthognathic Surgery. He is considered an expert in these fields and is well published in these areas as well. Our team regularly attends regional and national meetings to stay up-to-date on the latest and safest techniques.

Dr. Loetscher’s surgical staff have been with him for years, and have unsurpassed experience in simple and complex oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures.

We have built a facility with advanced and fully equipped surgical suites. This allows us to practice a full scope of our specialty in a safe, clean and cost-efficient environment. Our onsite dental lab provides us with capabilities in our dental implant reconstruction.

Dr. Loetscher currently resides in Alpharetta, GA with his wife Allison and two daughters, Suzy and Penny! 

4th Generation Craftsman

Dr. Loetscher comes from a family with a long history of craftsmanship. His great-grandfather whom he is named after, immigrated as a craftsman from Switzerland in the 1870s to Dubuque, Iowa. There he founded a millwork company, called Farley & Loetscher, which became the largest millwork company in the world by the early 1900s.

His father built high-quality homes in Dubuque which featured much of his father’s custom handmade furniture. Dr. Loetscher grew up in his father’s woodworking shop building furniture and learning craftsmanship, which he continues on. His hand skills were also honed with years of playing the piano. Performing Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery requires craftsmanship. Dr. Loetscher transfers this craftsmanship to his surgeries. He takes pride in carrying out this fine craftsmanship in his surgeries on a daily basis.

Awards

Dr. Loetscher received the following honors and awards while in dental school:

• American College of Dentists Award: A plaque awarded by the Iowa section to a senior student with an outstanding academic achievement and active non-academic participation during dental school.
• Slighter Scholarship Award: A scholarship presented to a junior dental student on the basis of scholastic ability and financial need. Preference given to a student with a preference in orthodontics.
• American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons: Certificate presented to the senior student who has demonstrated exemplary aptitude and achievement in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
• Norma Adams Award: A financial award presented to a junior dental student Demonstrating Promise of High Achievement in their chosen profession and possessing qualities of character and personality, which will enhance those skills.
• Delta Sigma Delta, Gamma Chapter: Award in Recognition of Highest Academic Achievement During First Three Years in the Study of Dentistry.
• Dows Dental Research Award: Project entitled Local Anesthesia of the Maxillary First Molar The Incidence of Success with the Posterior Superior Alveolar Nerve Block.
• Dows Dental Research Award: Project entitled An Analysis of Variations in the Innervations of the Maxillary First Molar.
• Dean’s Leadership Award: 1985 and 1986 University of Iowa, College of Dentistry
• National Dean’s List: 1984, 1985, 1986.
• 1985 Outstanding Scholar’s Award: University of Iowa, College of Dentistry
• Dental Class of 1923 Award: Presented to three outstanding junior dental students on the basis of scholarship, professional attitude, character, and personality.
• P.M. Herrick Award: Delta Sigma Delta, Highest Scholastic Average in the Freshman Academic Year.
• Fenton Memorial Award: Presented to an outstanding junior dental student on Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Loetscher has been practicing in the metro Atlanta area for over 30 years. In those years he has developed a reputation as one of the top Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. This is especially true for his 3 areas of expertise: dental implant surgery, wisdom teeth removal, and orthognathic surgery.

Dentistry has undergone an unprecedented change in the technological revolution. We have taken advantage of these changes by implementing them to provide our patients with innovative surgical experiences – improving comfort and success in many ways.

His surgical experience in dental implants is second to none in the area, having one of the largest dental practices in the region for over two decades. Dr. Loetscher’s skill in providing your restorative dentists with properly placed implants in the anterior esthetic zone for beautiful teeth is unmatched. This takes proper site preparation and implant placement. We are the only implant surgical practice with a full-time lab technician, allowing us to fabricate provisional teeth placed the day of implant placement. These are beautiful high-tech CAD/CAM milled teeth ranging from a single tooth to a whole arch of teeth.

As a clinician Dr. Loetscher has developed the skills of a true hybrid surgeon, with equal and current state-of-the-art skill sets in both hard and soft tissue grafting for implant reconstruction.

Training and Expertise:

Dr. Loetscher is highly experienced in all new modalities of dental Implant treatment, including ancillary bone grafting procedures.

In 2015, Dr. Loetscher became recognized as a Kois Specialist in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Very few Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons have achieved this status. Dr. John Kois’s Institute in Seattle (Kois Center for Advanced Dentistry Through Science) is considered by many to be the elite education forum for dentists to achieve the highest degree of up-to-date and accurate knowledge.

Along these same lines, Dr. Loetscher also actively leads a Spear Institute Study Club for advanced training. The Spear programs have included “Facially Generated Treatment Planning”, which combines the surgeon’s skills in orthognathic surgery and implant dentistry to reconstruct patient’s faces and smiles for maximum esthetics and function. Dr. Loetscher trained in the Spear’s workshops “Treating the Edentulous Arch”, and “Occlusion in Clinical Practice”. In addition, Dr. Loetscher also heads up the Alpharetta Spear Study Club, which are joint training sessions with Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, Orthodontists, and Restorative Dentists.
