Post-Op Lower Jaw (Ramus) Donor Site for Sinus Lift

Often bone graft particles are used from the lower jaw as the bone graft material to pack around your dental implants. This donor site has chromic gut sutures that dissolve in about 2 weeks.

Diet

Avoid abrasive foods, such as crusty breads, bagels, sharp chips, etc in this area for about 8 days. These can break down the incision lines. The movement of our jaw to eat food on the other side of your mouth tends not to be a problem.

Swelling of the Lower Jaw

This area may be more swollen and painful than the actual sinus lift site in your upper jaw. Keeping the ice pack on for 3-4 days can be quite helpful.
