- Board Certified as Fellow in Anesthesiology, by the American Society of Dental Anesthesiology
Dr. Andy Loetscher was born in Dubuque, Iowa. He received his undergraduate training, as well as his dental degree from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1986. He then trained at the prestigious residency program in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Ohio State University, which he completed in 1990. While attending the Ohio State University, Dr. Loetscher also obtained a Masters Degree in Bone Grafting.
Besides oral surgery, his passions include woodworking, fitness and triathlon training, skiing and traveling. Dr. Loetscher has a wife Allison, and son Justin.

Dr. Loetscher received the following honors and awards while in dental school:
American College of Dentists Award. A plaque awarded by the Iowa section to a senior student with an outstanding academic achievement and active non-academic participation during dental school.
American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. Certificate presented to the senior student who has demonstrated exemplary aptitude and achievement in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dean’s Leadership Award, 1985 and 1986. University of Iowa, College of Dentistry
Delta Sigma Delta, Gamma Chapter. Award in Recognition of Highest Academic Achievement During First Three Years in the Study of Dentistry.
Dental Class of 1923 Award: Presented to three outstanding junior dental students on the basis of scholarship, professional attitude, character, and personality.
1985 – Outstanding Scholar’s Award, University of Iowa, College of Dentistry
Fenton Memorial Award: Presented to an outstanding junior dental student on Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
Slighter Scholarship Award. A scholarship presented to a junior dental student on the basis of scholastic ability and financial need. Preference given to a student with a preference in orthodontics.
Norma Adams Award. A financial award presented to a junior dental student “Demonstrating Promise of High Achievement” in their chosen profession and possessing qualities of character and personality, which will enhance those skills.
P.M. Herrick Award – Delta Sigma Delta, Highest Scholastic Average in the Freshman Academic Year.

Dows Dental Research Award, Project entitled “An Analysis of Variations in the Innervations of the Maxillary First Molar”.
Dows Dental Research Award. Project entitled “Local Anesthesia of the Maxillary First Molar – The Incidence of Success with the Posterior Superior Alveolar Nerve Block.
Dr. Loetscher has extensive experience in Implant and Reconstructive Surgery, Orthognathic Surgery to correct irregularities of the facial bones, and removal of wisdom teeth. He lectures locally and nationally on implant reconstructive and pre-prosthetic surgery. He has presented his research findings at several of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery meetings, as well as the International Association of Dental Research meetings. He has had scientific articles published in several journals, including Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology, The Journal of the American Dental Society, and the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Loetscher is founder and director of the Norcross Study Club, which has been in existence for 14 years. It has become known in the Atlanta area as one of the premier educational forums for dental practitioners to keep up to date on recent developments regarding dental implants and esthetic oral and maxillofacial surgery.
