Dr. Loetscher has been practicing in the metro Atlanta area for 20 years.  In those years he has developed a reputation as one of the top Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons in the area.   This is especially true for his 3 areas of expertise:  dental implant surgery, wisdom teeth removal, and orthognathic surgery.

His surgical experience in Dental Implants is second to none in the area, having one of the largest dental practices in the regions for over a decade.   Dr. Loetscher’s skill in providing your restorative dentists with properly placed implants in the anterior esthetic zone for beautiful teeth is unmatched.  This takes proper site preparation and implant placement.

Training and Expertise:  

Dr. Loetscher attended the prestigious Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery training program at the Ohio State University.  While there, he also obtained a Master’s degree in Bone Grafting.  The Ohio State program has excelled for years in it’s training in the areas of Dental Implantology, Orthognathic Surgery, and Anesthesia.  In addition, Dr. Loetscher lectures on topics of Dental Implants and Orthognathic Surgery.  Both he and his staff attend regional and national meetings to stay up to date on the latest and safest techniques. 
 
Dr. Loetscher is highly experienced in all new modalities of dental Implant treating, including ancillary bone grafting procedures.

Board Certification:  

Dr. Loetscher is dual board certified by both the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and the American Society of Dental Anesthesiology.   These are rigorous written and oral examinations taken after you have been in private practice, signifying a you excel in your specialty and have a thorough understanding of all facets of the specialty.   Dr. Loetscher is one of the small percentage of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons to earn this degree of excellence in his specialty.

Use of Autogenous Bone: 

Autogenous  bone is “your own” bone, rather than cadaver or animal derived bone.  Autogenous bone is the gold standard for use around dental implants, and gives patients both the highest short term and long term success.  Many practitioner’s substitute the easier to use cadaver or animal bone (bovine) to place around dental implants.   Although this is more convenient, it is well documented that long-term success is lower, and the complication rate much higher when not using autogenous bone.   For years Dr. Loetscher has used only autogenous bone to augment dental implant sites.   His practice has evolved to achieve this with the most predictability and least patient discomfort.  It also is the reason his dental implant surgery and long-term implant success is extremely high.

Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery vs. Periodontics:  

Oral & Maxillofacial surgeons are the only dental speciality truly trained in complex surgical procedures, including sterile technique, harvesting of bone and advanced surgical techniques.    The training of Oral & Maxillofacial surgeons is 4 years versus 2-3 years for periodontists.  Furthermore, only oral & maxillofacial surgeons are formally trained in anesthesia techniques ranging from IV sedation to general anesthesia.

Anesthesia  Safety: 

Is your doctor board certified in anesthesia?  Does he actually do general anesthesia, or a sedation termed general anesthesia?  The state’s requirements are minimal, but we take the quality and safety of anesthesia to the highest possible level:

Questions to ask your doctor when undergoing outpatient anesthesia:

  • Is there a registered nurse (RN) present?
  • Is it a true general anesthesia where the airway is protected, or a deep sedation called general anesthesia?
  • Is back-up power available – such as with a generator?

    • I-Cat provides efficient integration into Nobel BioCare’s Guided surgery and teeth in an hour technology
  • State of the art equipped operating rooms, anesthesia machines and monitors, and sterilization equipment.
  • Both PRP and PRGF machines available for optimal Tissue Engineering.
